The last several days have been very pleasant here in mid-Michigan. Not your typical end of winter days, instead, it has been almost balmy!!! The sun has been shining in the windows and my kitties are soaking up all the warm sun rays as they sleep.
Unfortunately, the sunlight shows every speck of dust and all the cat hair being shed by my three little furry friends. That means its time to go outside. And that I did.
Yesterday, I spent a few hours raking the leaves and road gravel from my front yard. The snow plow actually threw quite a bit of broken asphalt and pepples from the road onto my sidewalk, driveway and front lawn. I watched the last trip from the plow and couldn't believe my eyes. The warm weather has given me the opportunity to clean up the mess. I managed to fill three yard waste bags with dead leaves, tree seeds and road gravel. My front yard is now all ready for the crabgrass preventer. I researched and found out that it is important to rake before you apply the preventer and the key time to apply this "magic potion" is when the Forsythia are blooming. I haven't seen any blooming yet so I am waiting. With the sunny skies and extra warm weather, it shouldn't be too long of a wait.
Today after work I took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather and loaded up my car with all my cardboard and box board and headed to the nearby recycling center. How convenient!!! On the way home I decided to stop for gas (the prices are lower) and a car wash too. Somehow a clean car makes the garage seem cleaner.
I can't wait to start working in the gardens. It is forecast to be even warmer tomorrow. Maybe I will rake the backyard.......I think I have SPRING FEVER!!!!
