Katie Couric would be so proud of me today. As most 50 year olds know, besides reaching that big milestone in age and getting hounded by the AARP, you also get to have a colonoscopy. I spent yesterday doing the prep work. It was not too enjoyable, but not bad either. My sister drove me to my big "event". She is calm and I am so thankful that I can count on her for these types of events. I am a big baby when it comes to needles, shots and IVs. I scared the nurse about my bad veins so the anesthesiologist did my IV. He was not nervous, knew exactly what to do and did it right the first time. He didn't even leave a mark in my hand!!!!
I must say it was strange meeting the doctor seconds before the procedure, but I really liked her. The staff said they would be doing 60 of these procedures today. Wow!!!! The IV drugs were good, I remember saying "Good Night" and the next thing I saw was my sister sitting beside me. Terri said that she only had time to flip to page 24 in the magazine before I was finished. The results were all good and I don't have to do this again for 10 more years. I could show you the pictures, but I will spare you that experience.
I must say, I was tired when I returned home and took the opportunity to cover up with a quilt and nap on the sofa. The big reward for the day was having Muffin curl up with me. He slept for a good three hours and kept me nice and warm. True Bliss.

Congrats! And thank you for not showing us the pictures! :)
Ditto Ruth's message. This has been a part of my life for so many years that I don't even think about it anymore -- except I have to go every three years now instead of every other. Daisy
Well --- I don't think I want to see the pictures either! Be grateful for the 10 year reprieve --- I'm at every four years now --- and those years pass way too quickly! I just heard today, that they are considering doing this test as an MRI --- less costly and equally as effective --- except, if you have polyps, then you have to have the surgery. I think it would be worth avoiding the prep!
