Jessica Ann's 1st Birthday/President Barack Obama

Today is a special day for a few reasons: it is Jessica Ann's first birthday and Barack Obama has been elected President!!!!! History has been changed in America. Yippee, Yeah, Rah Rah, Yahoo and Bravo for all of us!!!!

Jessica Ann turned one year old today. She is my second niece among six nephews. We waited a long time for a girl and last year our family got two within a few weeks of each other, Madeline and Jessica. It is nice that the girls are the same age so they can grow up together and be close cousins. Jessica already had a big party so I thought I would show you earlier pictures of my sweet niece.
New born Jessica Ann.
She was all wrinkled up like most newborns. So cute.
Jessica and her mom, Shelley.
Jessica has a big brother, Xander. Xander really loves his sister. I remember one family visit at Grandma Dee's when the boy cousins got to see the new baby girls. Xander came running in the room saying hey, Jackson has a baby too. He was so excited to find out that his cousin Jackson had a baby sister just like he did.
Jessica looks at her dad, my brother Doug.
She is a cutey.
All bundled up in pink.
That finger must taste good.
Jessica really likes her finger.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESSICA ANN, you have a wonderful gift today in an historic election of Barack Obama as our President. Your future is much brighter now.
I had the day off for election day. We had unseasonably warm weather today, over 70 degrees and it is supposed to be warm again tomorrow. Besides taking time to vote, I had my furnace and AC serviced, stopped at the Habitat office, did some investing at a new bank, had the oil in my car changed and tried out some new Mazdas while I waited. I don't have any plans for a new car any time soon but I really liked the Mazda 6 and the Mazda 3 is not too bad either. Both are big sellers and get good gas mileage. I have owned two Mazdas and they have both been excellent cars. I also did some grocery shopping and checked out the clearance deals on Japanese Maples. Coincidentally, I ran in to a fellow Habitat Board member checking out trees as well. This evening was our monthly Scrap Fever meeting and the show and tell was exciting. The members of the group make lots of scrap quilts. Tonight we exchanged dark 6 inch blocks to make small scrap quilts.
