Habitat Meetings/WMQG Quilt Show II

Tonight I had two Habitat meetings back to back. We are gearing up for a big project and it is going to be scary and exciting at the same time. I can't believe how blessed I am to work with such a wonderful group of people. The Habitat for Humanity Lansing staff put in long hours and are always energetic about our mission to eliminate substandard housing. Our dedicated board members spend many hours working toward making our affiliate all that it can be after they have spent their day working at their paying jobs. We have countless volunteers who help build the homes and generous donors who help keep us going.

Habitat for Humanity Lansing is getting lots of mention on our local Public Radio station, WKAR, this week. Habitat Lansing is a partner non-profit for the fundraiser and a local lumber company, Pro Build, is donating one nail for every dollar pledged to WKAR Radio during this week of fundraising. The goal is $240, 000 and 240,000 nails. It will be enough nails to build five homes in the Lansing area. If you haven't yet made your donation to support WKAR Radio, do so this week and help Habitat Lansing eliminate substandard housing at the same time. It's a win win for WKAR and Habitat but our whole community is the real winner.
Think Globally, Act Locally!!!

Here are some more pictures of quilts from the West Michigan Quilter's Guild Quilt Show, Enjoy:

I love the curves and the pink and green, great combo.
True art!
Stunning.
I loved the colors and the vine in this one.
Close up.
Again, click to enlarge and see the words quilted in the border.
Wow, love it.
The background in this one was pleated. It really gives the illusion of leaves blowing in the wind.
The leaves traveled off of the background too.
Very nice quilt. Love the swirl too.
Gotta have lime green.
Now we're cookin'.
More art.
Again.
This is a bright one.
So that's what you do with dryer lint! Just kidding, this one is really cool.
Strange use of the skull fabric and the pea fabric on the hands.
Lemonade Stand. How sweet.......
Wow!
This one was really cool. It was several individual quilts attached and it really has the arty look.
Spectacular.
Close up.
Paisley Rain.
A great use of batiks. I might try this myself.

Up close.

The quilt with the hammock was made by Pats' friend that we went to dinner with after the show on Friday. She does EXCELLENT hand work.
