On Friday evening Ruth and I visited East Lansing to see the concert by Cat Fish 5. Their website states that they perform countrified funk. It was fun but it was more fun watching the children and a few parents dance to the music. The music took me back to Junior High and High School. The weather was perfect.
I slept in late on Saturday and Sunday, at least until my brother Mike awoke me up with early phone calls each morning. I needed to sleep and needed to rest and relax over the weekend. I did manage to get lots of things done around the house but mostly cleaning and getting rid of stuff. Ruth graciously volunteered to drive a car load of items to PetCo to donate them to the Pet Support Services for an upcoming fundraising garage sale. Pet Support Services assists people who are ill or can no longer care for their pets. They find new homes for the pets and help care for them. It is a good cause and I was more than willing to help with donations plus I emptied more containers of "stuff" in my basement.
I made three beaded bracelets to donate to a fundraiser for a little girl who has cancer. Her mother played soccer for MSU and her friends are hosting a fundraising auction at MSU in August. I also basted a small Laurel Burch Christmas wallhanging that will be another auction item.
I learned that Sulky monofiliment thread is not good for vacuum cleaners. Fortunately, I was able to dismantle my Dyson and find the problem. I just could not live without my Dyson. I have four cats.....no further explanation needed.
I stopped at Staples on the way home from work today. I love Staples. One of the floor staff was able to help me figure out why my Microsoft Photo Gallery program would not allow me to save fixes to my digital photos. Rob spent quite a bit of time with me and came up with two possible reasons. One suggestion was that the lock on the SD memory card had been selected. The other option was the Kodak Photo Gallery software that I recently installed. It turned out to be the software. I uninstalled it and now my Microsoft program will allow me to save the fixes!!! Thank you Rob!!! Now I have to decide what to do about the Kodak Gallery......... any suggestions? Apparently it "does not play well with others".
The Charm group met at Daisy's tonight for our monthly potluck gathering. We had good food but the company of fellow quilters is always the best. Georgia brought her friend Clarice and showed her block exchange project from a few years ago which includes my "self-portrait" at the top of this blog. I will include a picture of the quilt after Kari machine quilts it for Georgia. It is spectacular. Jan also showed a quilt that she reworked from an antique top that she acquired. We all gave her our opinion on its age. It had big flowers in pastel and brighter colors but was set with caramel and brown sashing. The caramel and brown screamed 1980's but the flowers were saying 1930s, 1940s, 1950s, 1960s? We all had ideas and opinions.
Louise requested more quilts so here are the quilts from NQA in Columbus 2007. I have not seen these pictures until now. Enjoy!!
Louise, I found a red quilt!
Oh, Happy Bastille Day and Happy Birthday to Lauren Thompson today.

Thank you, Cindy. Was going to check at 6 AM but got started on working with some red orphan blocks. I've made a lot of red quilts but don't think I've done one every stitch red - like to mix it up some.
Glad to have you back in circulation...
