Labor Day

I was tired from the long weekend and got to catch up on some sleep this morning. Since it was getting hot I decided I had better not delay the garden cleanup I was hoping to do. I managed to do some more clean up of the perennials behind and on the north side of the garage. I filled one yard waste bag and that was my limit. The soil is so dry that I can easily pull the weeds out of the grass. Most of the grass is brown or dormant and I hope it comes to life once the rains start.
The temp was pretty hot and it was humid too. I did some watering and made mental plans for plants to move to new locations and possible locations for new plants when the sales start in a few weeks. A new Japanese Maple would be a nice addition to the back garden but they are expensive so I will have to wait for a good sale. I have several volunteer Cariopteris (Blue Beard) and will move those to a location in the back garden. They are woody perennial shrubs and have beautiful blue flowers toward the end of the summer. I have several that have created a cluster of blue flowers and silvery leaves in my back garden. A few more in another location will be great.
The rest of the day was spent doing laundry and some house cleaning. Of course the kitties were all wanting attention after being alone for a few days. Lisa came to feed and water them so they were not neglected. Lisa said that Muffin even let her pet him. He knows who brings the food.
