More Durand Quilt Show and World Habitat Day

There was another darkly clouded sky today. Autumn sure has arrived and seems to want to stick around. There are lots of rainy days ahead in the forecast. The temperatures are cool but I wouldn't call it "cold" just yet. You can still walk around outside without a coat on as you go from the car to the store, etc.

Running in and out of stores is what I did this evening. In addition to my own groceries, I stocked up on canned cat food for my almost toothless kittie, Muffin. He has become quite finicky in his old age and he lets me know when he is hungry and when my selection of canned food flavor or texture is not to his liking. This evening's dinner seemed to suite him quite fine and he even wanted more. This week he really likes the gravy, next week who knows........I wouldn't be so concerned except he has lost quite a bit of weight according to the records at his most recent check up about a month ago.
Have you seen the commercials for the new "Appetizers" for cats? Yup...they are not designed as a main course, but as a way to get closure to your cat, to share the experience with your cat. Can you believe it? They are using seduction as a marketing tool to get us to buy appetizers for our cats and yes...it worked and I bought some to a few weeks ago and my cats just love them. They look and smell like a nice yummy stew of chicken or beef etc. I bought more appetizers tonight too. My cats are so spoiled.

Before heading home I stopped at Grandma Dee's to see my brother Jim and Carl and John who were headed to Munn Ice Arena for the first MSU hockey game of the year. Go Green!!!!

Here are more quilts from the Durand Quilt Show:

This one looks like a quick quilt and a good way to use those large print fabrics such as Amy Butler and Kaffe Fassett.

More wonderful applique.

Click to enlarge this one, the center machine quilting is spectacular.
A old fashioned pattern but a great use of circles.

Almost Hawaiian but much nicer.
Wow!!!!
Nice and colorful.
New York Beauty Wanna Be's

I wish I could applique tiny circles like this.

A bird in every block.
Today is World Habitat Day. The United Nations has designated the first Monday of October every year as World Habitat Day. The idea is to reflect on the state of our towns and cities and the basic right of all to adequate shelter.
I believe that a zero-interest mortgage is a life-changing opportunity for a family to lift themselves out of poverty housing. To get more information or to donate/volunteer go to www.habitatlansing.org
YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR OWN COMMUNITY!!!!!!
