Today was the second day of the East Lansing Art Festival and Lisa and I arrived early to start our shift assisting in the Children's Hands On Art area. We were telling children about quilts and helping them either color a quilt or glue squares and triangles on to paper to make a quilt block. The weather was very cold. It was about 50 degrees and Irene reminded us that it was only 18 degrees above freezing. I learned quickly that I should have worn my long sleeve sweater instead of the short sleeve t-shirt. Luckily my denim jacket and my windbreaker combined helped cut the wind and keep me warm. Unfortunately, because of the weather, we only had about a dozen children stop at our table. The few who did spend time with us seemed to enjoy it as did their parents.
After our time was up we ventured back to the artists' booths to check out items we didn't get to see yesterday. I took a second look at a peridot ring and made a purchase. I found one that met my budget and I really like it. It is an oval peridot set in sterling silver. The band has silver swirls on either side of the peridot. I like peridot because it is lime green. My number one color at this time.
We listened to a few concerts with Millish and our favorite, Mystic Shake. I ran into a coworker, Kristie, and a fellow Habitat board member, Bill. The cold weather was just too cold so we left the Art Festival by mid-afternoon.
My brother, Jim, and his wife, Wendy, were in town for the Boarshead Theatre play, "Escanaba in Love", the prequil to "Escanaba in the Moonlight", both by Jeff Daniels. . I had purchased the tickets to the play "Escanaba in the Moonlight" several years ago for my Mom and Jim to see the play. It was at that play that Jim first met Wendy. She was at the play with her parents and sister and her husband. Since Jim just celebrated his 40th Birthday, my brother, Mike, and I bought him tickets to "Escanaba in Love" as his gift. Jim and Wendy enjoyed the play. They don't often get out alone without their four boys, so it was a special treat. Grandma Dee and Uncle Mike babysat and I was able to join them after I returned from the Art Festival. John and Sam helped Grandma Dee by picking up the twigs in her yard. We had very high winds last night and there were many branches and twigs down in the yards around town. Carl, John, and Sam came to my house to help pick up the twigs in my yard and I paid them twice what Grandma Dee paid plus they each got an extra tip and Carl was awarded with a collection of Reader's Digest Best Loved Books. Carl has become an avid reader and he seems to carry a book with him at all times. He was very happy to get the books. Carl, John and Sam also got to pet Seally. She is my only cat that doesn't run when people visit. She likes to be petted and considered the visit by Carl, John and Sam a special treat for her. Sam told Jim all about Seally when we returned to Grandma Dee's house. He really liked petting Seally. Seally also enjoys her visits from Jackson, who also likes to pet her.

I'm looking forward to seeing all your new jewelry purchases - and Linda's and Lisa's too!
