Ann Arbor Quilt Show - Bright Colors

We did not get the needed rain last night. My lawn is getting parched and needs rain badly. The weather has been hot and humid and hazy, just ripe for a good rain storm.
My cats have been shedding heavily the last few weeks and despite the daily brushing, I feel the need to vacuum often. My Dyson is getting a good workout and so am I by hauling it up and down two flights of stairs. My dream is to own one Dyson for each floor. Well, I can dream, can't I?

I hope you all voted today. It is your civic duty. How else are you going to earn the right to complain later on? The big election is weeks away and it will be nice when it is over. No more nasty TV commercials and less junk in the mailbox.

After dinner, I met up with Lisa at Eastwood Towne Center for the weekly concert. This week is was The Delta Rhythm Kings. They had three sax players in the band and were quite enjoyable. Lisa and I walked over to DSW to check out the shoes and Lisa found a pair that she may get later.

I thought you might like to see more quilts from the Ann Arbor Quilt Show but in brighter colors than brown. So here they are: Pinwheels with a Kaffe Fassett background.
Up close.
A Piece 'O Cake pattern.
This one has a colonial look.
Up close.
Great use of the Aunt Gracie repros.I actually saw this quilt mentioned on a blog that I read. The quilter made it in a Gwen Marston workshop.

Black and Bright pinwheels.
Bright and scrappy Snails Trail.
Another bright one with some pastels in the shadows.
New York Beauty. I love the colors in this one. I am still hunting for my color selection for the one I plan to make someday.
Up close. I still have some of the cat fabric featured in this block.

I think this was my favorite in the show. Sophie picked it first, but I agreed with her.
Wonderful quilting.
Love the Ginkgo leaf.
Great colors.
Really wonderful hand dyed fabric.
Wool and buttons. How cute?
A unique landscape.
And finally, some music.
Guess who will be 5 years old tomorrow? Check back tomorrow to find out...........

I think that leaf quilt would have been my favorite, too --- something similar is on my "someday to do" list. Yes, we seriously need rain. I've transplanted some flowers/plants and gave up and am running the sprinkler today.

Yes, I voted yesterday, but I was so sad to hear that the library millage was defeated. Very depressing and disappointing news for our community.
