A DAY in the ER & AAQS V

This day did not start out as planned and did not end as planned. I was awakened early this morning by my Mom who needed to go to the ER. She fell a few days ago and decided it was time to go to the ER. She didn't break anything but tests showed that she needed treatment and so she was admitted after spending all day in the ER. She will likely spend a few days in the hospital. After Mom got settled in her room and was relaxed enough to sleep, I was able to return home to do the necessary chores and maybe get to the Great Lakes Folk Festival. Unfortunately, mother nature decided it was time to deliver the needed rain. Since I was completely exhausted from the early and long day and all the phone calls to notify family etc, I decided to give the GLFF a try tomorrow.
One good thing, maybe two. The lawn is smiling from the rain and I saw the humming bird again. She visited my coral bells and lavender and even checked out the painted cat ornament I have in the garden. I assume she was attracted to the reddish colors of the metal work cat.

Here is the last installment of quilts from the Ann Arbor Quilt Show, Enjoy!!

A small beaded quilt. Very colorful.
More art quilts.
The tree was appliqued and stitched with thread.
Nice thread work on this one. Just beautiful.
Doesn't the stone wall of the building look real?

African fabrics in circles.
More circles.
Little garden ladies in hats.
Great use of large print fabrics.
Penguins for Ruth!!!!
This one and the next few were part of an exhibit of quilts made by African quilters.

Tree of Life.
Very colorful African applique.
African landscape.
Sampler of African dress.

Up close.
Nice indigo blue and white quilt that has that old look to it.
A purple grandmother's flower garden.
Up close.
Click to make this larger. This is one of the few hand quilted examples in the show.
Very simple Nine Patch, but stunning in these lavender prints that were fussy cut.
Up close.
Notice the binding is made of fabric that graduates from one shade of purple to another.
Winding Ways.
