Another Rainy Day

Today was another rainy day, no complaints though. After grocery shopping and having a quick dinner, I went for a walk with my neighbor Janet. The Tollgate ponds were active with ducks and birds but we didn't see the Green Heron, the Great Blue Heron, or the turtle. We did notice the sun appearing white in the pale blue cloudy sky. It was also reflected in one of the ponds.

My cats and I have enjoyed watching several baby bunnies hopping around the backyard. They seem to enjoy the few patches of clover in the lawn. The other day they were running around in the front of the house and crossing back and forth across the street. Luckily no cars were traveling on the street at the time.

Here are more pictures from the Chicago International Quilt Show, April 2008. These are all from the Journal quilt exhibit.
Great colors.
Hand Dyed, great machine quilting.
Fireworks.
Different.
This reminds me of the art process where you drop paint on a paper and spin it at high speed.
Very arty.
Beaded.
Commas in reverse?
Flowing.
Cool embellishments.

Stamped with gold paint.
This has an oriental look.
Good use of those little tiny pieces we all toss out.
I love this one.
This one has some great new techniques used on it.

I will leave you with this little bit of wisdom forwarded from my friend Val.

Apples and Wine
Women are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. Most men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they sometimes take the apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy. The apples at the top think something is wrong with them., when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right man to come along, the one who is brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree.
Now men....men are like a fine wine. They begin as grapes, and it's up to women to stomp them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with.
Are you a Granny Smith? Golden Delicious? Honey Crisp? Northern Spy? Me, I'm waiting for a fine champagne.

Never heard the "apples and wine" before --- pretty good! Thanks for sharing the Chicago pictures --- didn't have the time to examine them closely, at the show --- spent too much time in the vendor area!
